The Evolution of Easy Fresh Cooking®: From Concept to EFC IV

In 2009, Yerecic Label embarked on a mission to revolutionize the meat case with the goals of helping shoppers break out of their cooking rut and feel confident buying and preparing unfamiliar cuts of meat.  Protein Labeling Study II (PLS II) sought consumer insights on what makes a great label. Through focus groups, we found that many shoppers resisted buying new types of meat because they didn’t know how to prepare them. They wanted convenient, on-pack guidance that would inspire them to try something different—without requiring extra effort.

The Results of PLS II: Early Success

In 2011, we tested the impact of our on-pack labels across traditional and club stores, comparing sales performance to a year prior. The results were clear: stores with Easy Fresh Cooking® labels saw a 1.57%-point increase in unit sales compared to control stores. Shoppers loved the ease of having meal solutions right on the package, and feedback highlighted the appeal of clear cooking instructions and simple recipes.
