As a leader in pressure sensitive labeling Design for Recycling compatibility and education, Yerecic Label commits to continuous improvement surrounding PS label design compatibility to relevant recycling streams to produce greater quality and yield of post-consumer recycled content for food grade packaging.

Current Continuous Improvement Project

Yerecic Label’s 2026 Continuous Improvement Project focuses on promoting responsible electronic waste recycling through an onsite electronic waste collection initiative for team members in partnership with eLoop. This initiative provides a convenient opportunity for team members to responsibly recycle personal electronic devices, helping divert electronic waste from landfills and ensuring materials are managed through certified recycling processes. By increasing access to electronic waste recycling, Yerecic Label supports environmental sustainability, encourages responsible disposal practices, and reinforces our commitment to continuous improvement and community stewardship.

Industry Collaboration

The Association of Plastic Recycling (APR)

The Association of Plastic Recycling (APR) is an international trade association representing the plastics recycling industry. Yerecic Label became an APR member in 2015 and currently sits on the APR Communications & Public Affairs Committee for a 3 year term.

Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) Certification

Yerecic Label was previously certified by the TLMI’s Label Initiative for the Environment (L.I.F.E) since 2009. In 2018, TLMI joined forces with the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP) to further commit to the industry’s sustainability values. Yerecic Label is thrilled to announce that the company has achieved certification from SGP at our Pittsburgh facility, with intentions to apply for certification of our Phoenix facility in the near future. The role of the sustainability committee: The role of the sustainability committee within Yerecic Label is to promote and implement environmentally and socially responsible practices to minimize the company’s environmental impact, ensure sustainable sourcing of materials, and support ethical and responsible business operations.

The role of the SGP Impact Tracker: The SGP Impact Tracker helps printers manage their sustainability certifications, track progress, and improve efficiency. Certified facilities can benchmark their sustainability efforts, use sustainability statistics in marketing to attract eco-conscious customers, and access all sustainability data in one place for easier recertification and potential benefits.

Yerecic Label’s 2025 Continuous Improvement Project focuses on creating added value for customers by pre-qualifying our Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) recognized label constructions through How2Recycle’s label program. This initiative aims to expand our range of pre-qualified label constructions, ensuring they meet the highest standards of recyclability. By pre-qualifying our label constructions through How2Recycle, our customers’ pathway to receiving a How2Recycle label for their own final packaging using our labels on-pack is streamlined. This pre-qualification helps our customers easily access sustainable packaging solutions, reducing their effort and supporting a circular economy by promoting proper recycling practices.

Yerecic Label’s 2024 Continuous Improvement Project involved taking another significant step forward in sustainability by transitioning to a wash-away adhesive for appropriate film pressure-sensitive labels applied to PET packaging. This innovation has been formally recognized by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR), marking a substantial improvement in the recyclability of food-grade PET products. While we aim to assign this new adhesive specification wherever suitable, it’s important to note that customers should inquire about specific use cases to ensure compatibility with their product’s end-of-life requirements.

Yerecic Label’s 2023 Continuous Improvement Project focused on increasing the yield of food grade recycled PET through its SustainLabel!® Preferred Design Recognition label construction. This construction meets strict APR testing standards, ensuring that the labels do not detrimentally impact recycling efforts and instead allow a greater yield of PET to be recycled, contributing to a circular economy and promoting sustainable packaging alternatives.
